Biography

Yusuke Obuchi, a highly distinguished guitarist, attended Berklee College of Music and has become one of the most sought-after instrumentalists on the East Coast. He has been a significant force and a core/regular member and lead guitarist for well-known artists, bands, and projects such as the 5th season of The Voice, singer Greylyn Paulszynski, producer/keyboardist Yukihiro Kanesaka, Luis Figueroa (who is currently on tour with pop and salsa icon, Mark Anthony), Adam Friedman, and Christian Saint-Louis, a featured bassist for Grammy Award-Winning Dianne Reeves’ newly released album, Beautiful Life. Yusuke also performs with his jazz trio, Mood Swing Band, as well as Masa Band (neo-soul and funk), DCQ (pop), and Soul Monstah’s (pop).

Yusuke has performed in a lead/starring role at renowned venues such as Regattabar (winner of “Best Jazz Club in Boston 2016” - WGBH A-list City Voter), Wally’s Café (featured on “Best of Boston” as the best music venue by Boston Magazine), Highline Ballroom (New York City), Ludlow House (New York City), House of Blues (featured as one of the “Top 10 Live Music Venues in Boston” by The Boston Globe), Sonny Walker’s (Boston), Brighton Music Hall (featured as one of the “Top 10 Live Music Venues in Boston” by Boston Magazine and “Best of Boston” by The Boston Globe), Darryl’s Corner Bar (Boston), Newport Blues (Newport), Beehive (Boston), and The Middle East (featured as one of the “Top 10 Live Music Venues in Boston” by The Boston Globe and “Best of Boston” as the best music venue by Boston Magazine), among others. If asked, Yusuke would tell you that excellent musicianship is not just about technical ability - it’s about feeling. While demonstrating a superb command of his instrument, he also possesses a remarkable ability to infuse emotion into every phrase he plays, whether in blues, jazz, funk, or rock.

Yusuke began teaching in 2015 and joined Note-worthy Experiences in May 2017.
