Renee Bordner Director of Note-worthy Experiences Music Studio

Renee Bordner, Masters in Education

Renee Bordner

Piano

Teaching Philosophy

“I believe that once a student can read notes then he or she should have an active participation in choosing the music they learn to play. I enjoy teaching beginners and using positive reinforcement in lessons to foster a life-long love of learning music.”

Biography

Renee holds a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in Education (MED) from The University of Toledo. Renee opened her first private piano studio in Pennsylvania in 2007. Since relocating to the Boston Metro West Area in 2012, the studio has expanded into a team of over 80 Note-worthy Experiences Music Studio Instructors, offering more than 25 different instrument lessons to over 700 students. As an instructor and studio director, Renee has prepared students for National Piano Guild auditions, Royal Conservatory of Music auditions, play-a-thons, and talent shows, and has organized annual Winter Holiday and Spring Recitals, adult student events, and paid performances. She has created and directed Master's Classes for intermediate and advanced students, as well as Music Enrichment Programs. Renee serves as the Chair of the Sudbury, Massachusetts Area Piano Guild Chapter and as a Judge on the American College of Musicians/National Guild of Piano Teachers. She was made a Hall of Fame member of the National Piano Guild in 2019. Renee is a member of the New England Piano Teachers Association, the Music Teacher National Association, and the Massachusetts Music Teacher Association. M. Steinert & Son of Boston has endorsed Renee Bordner as a Steinway & Sons Top Teacher each year since 2020. Renee is also an official Steinway Educational Partner. Renee was selected as a panelist for the June 2022 University of Massachusetts-Lowell Women’s Leadership Conference. She also served as a panelist for the 2023 MetroWest Women’s Conference. Renee was named the 2023 Business Person of the Year by the Sudbury Chamber of Commerce.  She also serves as a judge for the Acton Children's Fair for children entrepreneurs.

Renee also enjoys supporting small business owner organizations. In her free time, Renee volunteers for Instrumental Angels (www.instrumentalangels.org), a nonprofit that upcycles musical instruments for children in need. She is also a member of the Sudbury Cultural Council, HOPEsudbury Board of Directors, and Ascension Parish. Renee is passionate about teaching music, composition, and performance skills to students of all ages and abilities. She specializes in teaching students with learning differences and younger beginners. Renee guides her students to reach their individual goals - whether those goals are learning a favorite song or auditioning for a national competition. Whatever their musical goals, Renee encourages her students to share their experiences with their peers by participating in group events and performances.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and young adult children. She enjoys walking their dogs, baking, and gardening.

Renee began teaching in 2007.

“Renee is incredibly knowledgeable about both piano instruction and teaching more broadly. Renee understands what is developmentally appropriate and is preparing my daughter for more advanced skills when she will be ready by having a systematic approach from the beginning. She knows how to motivate and focus young children and has made piano lessons productive and fun for my daughter. Renee has routines that make the lesson flow from start to finish and my daughter knows exactly what to expect each week. She also has expectations that my daughter practice and be a responsible student which I appreciate.” - Stephanie from Sudbury, MA

“Renee is dedicated to music students of all ages and abilities, ranging from preschoolers to retirees, those with learning differences and those who are pursuing professional careers in music. She has taken on many leadership roles in the community to help women in small businesses, support guild activities in the greater metro area, support local school music programs, and operate a nonprofit to provide refurbished instruments to children in need around the world. She is a tremendous asset to our local community and the musical world at large!” - Amy from Sudbury, MA
