Teaching Philosophy
“I believe it is essential that everyone has a creative outlet, especially young people, so I strive to make music accessible. Whether it’s classical, jazz, or other popular styles, it is important you meet every student at their own skill level, interests, and long-term goals. I view practice like diet and exercise; it’s more important students enjoy what they’re practicing so they stick with it as opposed to the perfect routine they never want to complete. I want my students leaving their lessons feeling excited to play throughout the week and report back with their progress, questions, and demand for more!”
Biography
Based in his hometown of Pepperell, MA, Noah has been playing low brass instruments for over a decade. Beginning on trombone with his school band, it wasn’t long before Noah became enamored with the broad tone and quick melodies of the euphonium. You could call that the gateway instrument to an addiction to doubling. He’s recently been spotted playing principal euphonium with the New England Brass Band, principal trombone with the Gateway City Orchestra, bass trombone with the New England Film Orchestra, alto trombone with the Lowell Chamber Orchestra, and, most recently, purchased a tuba! Noah also regularly marches with various parade bands across New England on weekends and serves as the trombonist for the rock band Soul Function Boston.
Noah holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Freelance Music from Carnegie Mellon University. This student-defined major was created to address gaps in professional performance by developing skills in audio production, social media marketing, music cognition, and private teaching. Noah’s primary studio teacher and mentor in all things euphonium, trombone, and music business was the late Lance LaDuke (1967-2023). He also studied a semester of trombone with Peter Sullivan (principal of the Pittsburgh Symphony), a semester of jazz improvisation with saxophonist Eric DeFade, and a couple of semesters of audio production with Riccardo Schulz. Noah is also thankful for CMU's extracurricular activities, such as the “Modern Music Show” on YouTube, which gave him a taste of video production.
Outside of music, Noah is an Eagle Scout, Linux (PC) gamer, and advocate for the right to repair and digital privacy.
Noah began teaching in 2016 and joined Note-worthy Experiences in July 2025.
