Teaching Philosophy
“Over my 20 years of teaching violin and piano in both Suzuki and traditional methods, I have had lots of opportunities to hone my technique. While I believe advancement and achievement are very important, I have found that having fun is the most important aspect of music education. This is especially important when the novelty of that new instrument wears off and the work really begins! Music is an inseparable part of my personality and life, and I try to make my enthusiasm for music as infectious as possible, no matter the student’s age or ability level.”
Biography
Meagan earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Mathematics at Smith College, where she studied the violin and piano. Meagan has performed with numerous community choruses and orchestras since 2000, including the Lincoln-Sudbury Civic Orchestra, Wellesley Symphony Orchestra, Newton Symphony Orchestra, New Philharmonia Orchestra, Commonwealth Chorale, and Heritage Chorale. She began teaching music in 2003 as a faculty member at the Boston Suzuki Institute, where she taught violin to children and their parents.
Meagan has been teaching since 2007 and previously taught at Framingham Public Schools (in grades K-12). She has taught violin and piano to students as young as three and as old as sixty. She grew up in Sudbury but lives in Framingham with her husband and three children.
Meagan began teaching in 2003 and joined Note-worthy Experiences in May 2023.
