Hanna Zercher, Violin and Mandolin instructor

Hanna Zercher, BA in Professional Music

Hanna Zercher

Mandolin, Violin

Teaching Philosophy

“I have experience teaching both beginner and intermediate violin students, mainly in the classical style. I am very dedicated to my students and to helping them channel their inner creativity. I believe that everyone is artistically gifted and that once we learn to regularly access that creativity, it will eventually become a natural part of our daily lives. I enjoy helping my students learn and grow toward achieving their goals. My teaching style involved adapting to my students when it comes to their personal interests, goals, and learning styles. I believe that modern education tends to lack emphasis on a student’s uniqueness, creativity, and individuality, so cultivating these qualities in my students is something I strive toward.”

Biography

Hanna Zercher is a violinist, mandolinist, and singer-songwriter. Born and raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico, she began studying classical violin at age seven and mandolin at age fourteen. During her first eight years as a violinist, she studied the Suzuki method. She performed with the Santa Fe Youth Symphony and won the Santa Fe Youth Symphony Concerto Competition in 2015. Hanna attended New Mexico School for the Arts, where she honed her skills as a classical violinist while also delving into other genres, including jazz. During high school, she was a member of the New Mexico All-State Symphony Orchestra. She continued to expand her knowledge across a wide variety of genres at Berklee College of Music, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree (BA) in Professional Music, concentrating in Performance, American Roots Music, and Private Studio Teaching. While at Berklee, she was a member of the Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra and performed at Symphony Hall in Boston, including a performance of the Lord of the Rings film score. Outside of her studies, she formed and played in her progressive folk-rock band, Cactus Island. Since then, she has been a member of various other bands, including the alt-country band Justin Bowman and the Drifters. She has experience playing in many other musical settings, including quartets, orchestras, as a soloist, and in the recording studio. She’s studied with many renowned musicians, including Sharon Gilchrist, Darol Anger, Bruce Molsky, Simon Shaheen, Jason Anick, Joe Walsh, and Mimi Rabson, and has performed with renowned artists such as Mark O’Connor and flamenco artists, Sonia Olla and Ismael Fernandez. Outside the lovely world of music, Hanna enjoys hiking, painting, yoga, meditation, and hanging out with her two cats.

Hanna began teaching in 2019 and joined Note-worthy Experiences in May 2026.
