Biography

Garret Fernandez is a pianist, vocalist, composer, and music educator dedicated to helping students develop confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of music. With experience teaching students of all ages and skill levels, Garret creates engaging, personalized lessons that balance strong technical foundations with artistic expression. His teaching philosophy centers on meeting students where they are, encouraging curiosity, and making music an enjoyable and rewarding part of everyday life.

Garret’s musical journey began in high school, where he first studied clarinet before discovering a passion for guitar during his senior year. Music quickly became more than a hobby - it became a calling. As he prepared to graduate, he realized that if he could dedicate his life to anything, it would be music. This realization led him to pursue formal studies at the University of Jamestown in North Dakota, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance in 2022.

During his time at university, Garret studied piano, voice, conducting, and music theory under accomplished faculty mentors. He served as Bass Section Leader in the university choir, performing a wide range of repertoire and touring extensively throughout the southern United States before traveling internationally to Europe, where he performed at the Vatican. In addition to his classical studies, he performed as the guitarist for the university jazz ensemble and developed a passion for diverse musical styles. His vocal training included performance in English, French, and Italian, culminating in a multilingual senior recital that showcased both his technical versatility and artistic range.

Following graduation, Garret moved to Las Vegas, where he spent several years teaching private piano and voice lessons, both in-studio and in students’ homes. During this time, he worked with beginners, advancing musicians, children, teenagers, and adults, helping students prepare for recitals, auditions, performances, and personal musical goals. His teaching approach emphasizes creativity, musicianship, and confidence-building while maintaining a strong focus on healthy technique and musical understanding.

Alongside teaching, Garret remained active as a performer. He served as a section leader and vocalist at a local church, contributing to regular worship services and special musical events. The choir’s performances earned an invitation to perform at Carnegie Hall in 2025, a milestone that reflected the ensemble’s dedication and artistic excellence.

Now based in the Boston area, Garret continues to teach piano and voice while pursuing his own creative work as a composer and performer. Whether working with a young beginner playing their first notes or an experienced musician refining advanced repertoire, he strives to create an encouraging environment where students feel inspired to grow, express themselves, and discover the joy of making music.

Garret began teaching in 2022 and joined Note-worthy Experiences in June 2026.
