Renee Border, founder and Studio Director of Note-worthy Experiences, never set out to become an entrepreneur—let alone the owner of a thriving music school in Sudbury, MA. It took years for Renee to even call her practice a “music school.”

Renee’s journey began when her family was living in Easton, PA, and she was searching for a motivating, inspiring music teacher for her five-year-old son. She knew his schedule would eventually fill up with sports and other activities, so she wanted to ensure that music lessons came first.

When she couldn’t find the right fit, she started asking friends for recommendations. Ironically, these same friends encouraged her to teach their children herself.

With a master’s degree in education and experience as an art and music therapist, Renee decided to give it a try.

She began researching piano lesson curricula, effective practice strategies, and ways to keep students motivated—and, from that point on…she never looked back.

Her original plan was simple: teach six to eight neighborhood children, including her own. That number of piano students quickly grew to over 50. In fact, when her husband’s career brought the family to Sudbury, MA, Renee had already been teaching 56 piano students in PA!
