Distinguished Artist Track for Dedicated Student Musicians – Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Distinguished Artist Track?
The Distinguished Artist Track is Note-worthy Experiences®’ premier free enrichment program for dedicated student musicians. This year-long program helps advanced music students develop their musicianship, confidence, performance skills, and long-term artistic goals.
Who is the Distinguished Artist Track for?
This program is designed for students who are serious about their musical growth and want to go beyond traditional private music lessons. Students may be preparing for music competitions, auditions, conservatory or college music programs, scholarships, performances, or future careers in music.
What are the requirements?
Students apply for the Distinguished Artist Track and must receive a recommendation from their music teacher. Participants are expected to complete at least 45 private music lessons each year, maintain consistent practice habits, participate in performances, attend the annual College Music & Career Planning Workshop, and take part in at least one additional musical experience such as an ensemble, festival, competition, examination, or summer music program.
These experiences are valuable because they give students opportunities to prepare, perform, receive feedback, and reflect on their progress. For example, the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) emphasizes the importance of preparation, performance, feedback, and reflection when students participate in adjudicated musical experiences. Their resource, “Preparation for Adjudication: A Checklist for Success,” offers practical guidance that can help students and educators think more intentionally about preparing for performances and assessments.
What opportunities do students receive?
Distinguished Artist students receive individualized guidance and mentorship throughout the year. Opportunities may include artistic goal setting, college audition coaching, mock auditions, music resumé reviews, performance video feedback, scholarship information, summer program recommendations, and advanced performance or ensemble opportunities.
Is the Distinguished Artist Track free?
Yes! The Distinguished Artist Track is a free annual enrichment program for eligible Note-worthy Experiences students. The program runs from January through December.
Why choose an advanced music enrichment program?
Becoming an accomplished musician takes more than talent. The Distinguished Artist Track recognizes students who demonstrate commitment, responsibility, curiosity, and a willingness to grow. It provides a structured path for students who want to make meaningful progress and prepare for future musical opportunities.
